A match programme for the 1909 FA Cup final between Manchester United and Bristol City fetched a world-record price of £23,500 at a public auction on Tuesday.
It beat the previous record of £21,850 paid in 2006 for a programme from the 1889 FA Cup final, reports AFP.
"The 1909 FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Bristol City was Manchester United's first ever appearance in an FA Cup final and Bristol City's only ever appearance in an FA Cup final," said auctioneer Graham Budd.
"It is extremely scarce and the first time that one has ever been offered at auction. It was bought by a UK collector.
"With Manchester United a global brand, there was some discussion it might go overseas but it did not in the end."
Manchester United beat Bristol City 1-0 at Crystal Palace to claim the first of the 11 FA Cup trophies they have won to date.
